Brand, UX, UI, Shopify build
A Shopify ecommerce home for fashion's most political designer

An iconic brand with a story that needed a shop window
Katharine Hamnett is the true pioneer of eco-chic and fashion's most outspoken political designer. The iconic tees first caused a stir in the early 80s, and the brand has spent the decades since earning a reputation for ethical fashion with something to say. What it needed online was a responsive, social-enabled ecommerce site that could sell in three clicks, flex with the fashion calendar, and keep up with the continued evolution of the brand across womenswear, menswear, kids wear and the one-off charity tees.

Brand, UX, UI and a Shopify build
We started by mapping the red-route user journeys to pin down the features, functionality and content that actually mattered. The homepage was the main focus, the shop window, with the flexibility to hold up to twelve different layouts across each vertical so the site could be refreshed season after season without a rebuild. We built the site on Shopify for speed to market, minimal development overhead, integrated payments and access to a huge ecosystem of apps, exactly what an ambitious brand testing the water online needed. The blog, already up and running on social, political and ethical issues, was brought into the shop ahead of launch.

An online home that matches the brand behind it
Katharine Hamnett went live with a site that lets the iconic typography and strong visual language do the talking. Large, punchy, confident, framed by plenty of white space. The first phase delivered more than 34,000 new users and an online experience the team and its customers genuinely responded to. A flexible Shopify foundation for a brand with a lot more to say.
"We visited a number of agencies before choosing the right partner to develop our webstore and blog with. They listened and identified our needs and built a strategy for us. Honest and open attitude, realistic deadlines within budget, and clear and concise communication. Most importantly we felt that Rabbit and Hare have the best interests of the brands they work with at the forefront and we are extremely happy with the results."
